ACS COVID-19 Updates

O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith. O loving Mother, you know what we need, and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died. Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure.

Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross, to the glory of the Resurrection. Under thy protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God. In our needs, despise not our petitions, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Virtual Walk for Virtues!

If we can’t walk side by side this year, let’s walk in the Spirit!

Hello Assumption Family,

We hope this letter finds you healthy and well. At this point we won’t be back in school on May 15 for our annual Walk for Virtues, so we are going to plan for a Virtual Walk. If by the grace of God we are back in school, we will adjust our plans and celebrate together!

We have decided to continue with a Virtual theme. If we can’t all be together in the same space celebrating as a school family, we can do something together in spirit! The virtues of FAITH, HOPE, and COURAGE are essential right now.

Walk for Virtues is also an important fundraiser for our school. We understand many find themselves in a position where they cannot contribute financially; however, we also know some families and potential sponsors who are looking for places to generously give now. ALL are welcome and encouraged to participate, regardless of ability to give!

There will be some important changes:
  • Activity: Move! Perhaps your family takes a long walk or hike, picks up trash along the road and then follows it up with an outdoor family game, or cleans up the yards of an elderly neighbor unable to leave their home (check first for permission!).
  • Location: Family homes/yards or public areas, carefully following distancing guidelines - the only way we want to do this is in full compliance with guidelines set forth by the state!
  • Time: The walk begins at noon and usually finishes by 3 pm. Please commit to a 2-3 hour of time for your activity.
  • Donation: We have sent out a pledge form in the family envelopes.  Please make sure you let any sponsors know that we’ve changed the walk and are committing to movement that builds physical health, community spirit, and awareness of the virtues. We usually ask for a lump sum. We do not have students ask for pledges per mile or minute. Please return your pledges and forms to school by May 12th .
  • Pledge Online: There is now an opportunity to pledge online. Begin by going to the Tri-Parish Online Giving Page. A Walk for Virtues fund has been added to the online giving portals at all three parishes.  The fund description says: “Assumption Catholic School Walk for Virtues Fundraiser". Please add the name of the child/family you are supporting under "special intentions." Pledges are due May 11th.
  • T-shirts: Congratulations to Bailey Weisenbeck in 8th grade, for her winning t-shirt design! Her family will receive free t-shirts. By now everyone should have sent in your order forms for the t-shirt. We plan on getting them to you on the Tuesday, May 12th drop off/pick up day prior to the walk. Some were questioning if they needed to order a t-shirt; please do. If you can’t afford them, let us know we will be glad to help. Let’s all wear them during our family activities on May 15th !
  • Share: Assumption would like to post your family doing your walk/activity on our Webpage and Facebook page and for our Yearbook. Please send us videos or pictures of your family that day. Call the school, for more information on how to upload your video to us.

As Christ-like role models, we strive to guide our children as they learn to live as Christians. Together, we reinforce the teachings of Christ, by practicing the virtues of: hope, respect, charity, self-control, faith, right judgement, friendship, courage, and justice.

The virtuous person pursues good by choosing to do good in concrete actions. With God’s help, we guide our children to display love, kindness, compassion and respect towards one another and our earthly home.

During this time of uncertainty, let us trust in Our Lord’s faithfulness, by turning our fear into faith!

Sincerely,
Barbra Schoeneberger
